Open Position

At the Chicago Home Tutor, we are looking for passionate academic intervention specialists (school psychologists, special education teachers, reading recovery teachers, reading specialists, math specialists, executive functioning coaches, etc) for in-home tutoring services after school and during the summer.  We have clients in the city of Chicago and throughout Chicagoland. We have particular need for tutors in the North shore area.  Pay starts at 40 dollars per hour with opportunity for growth.

Understanding that we as teachers are lifelong learners who, like your child, function best with support, we monitor progress and consult research and other professionals to ensure that we are providing the best services possible.

Job Requirements

-- Design and Deliver scientifically supported academic intervention for students (K-12)
-- Conduct assessments of current student skills to determine academic needs (using interviews, record reviews, curriculum-based assessments, etc.)
-- Design and Deliver scientifically supported social-emotional intervention if needed (behavior plans, social stories, on/off task monitoring, etc)
-- Monitor student progress and communicate progress to clients and parents (and school if requested by parents)
-- Collaborate with other tutors about specific cases to offer and receive support


-- Active Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Certificate
-- Graduate Degree in Education Field with specific intervention training preferred
-- Training, Internships, or Experience with specific populations preferred (ADHD, Autism, Executive Functioning Difficulties, etc)
-- Training, Internships, or Experience with research supported interventions preferred (Reading Recovery, Orton- Gillingham, Handwriting without Tears. and much more)
-- Ability to collect and use progress monitoring data to make graphs and other representations of progress (use of AIMSweb, DIBELS, or other comparable system preferred)

Special Considerations

-- Reliable Transportation and Insurance Required
-- Availability desired- 3-10 hours per week for the entire year (school year and summer)
