Title: Substitute Bus Aide
Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Coordinator of Transportation, to ensure the safe transportation of students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips. Bus Aides will be assigned to either regular and special ed bus runs.
Salary: $ 7.93 per hour
Essential Functions:
Provides help to the school bus driver in maintaining discipline.
Assists students boarding and leaving the school bus.
Assists with loading, transporting and unloading of all students on the assigned bus.
Assists with the security of students on school buses and observes the special needs of individuals.
Assists the driver in maintaining adequate discipline.
Performs related tasks as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of all traffic laws, regulations, road signs and related information.
Visual and auditory acuity within professionally determined normal ranges, with correction if needed.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Effective organizational, problem solving, and time management skills.
Ability to learn and comprehend information from procedures manuals and other materials. Ability to comprehend and follow traffic signs required.
Ability to physically move through the bus.
Ability to maintain composure and perform responsibilities under pressure and in cases of accidents or other emergencies.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Works in standard school bus environment.
Education:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of eighth grade and some experience in working with children
Experience:
No experience required.
