Certain positions: especially low grade levels and Special Education may require being about to lift 50lbs or more, a lot of bending over and restraining children. Fast paced and high energy.

1-Melody Mund, sub coordinator, will call or email you and set up an intake interview at the Central Office.
You will fill out all paperwork, get aesop (electronic sub finder system) information, and go over rules and procedures for becoming a sub at FISD.
(This takes around an hour and will require you to bring your DL, SS card, and voided check if you want direct deposit.)
2-After the interview, she will set up a time for you to get your fingerprint clearinghouse done in Boerne.
(This is required of all employees of all school districts in the state of Texas)
3-You will be scheduled to mentor with one of our teachers at a selective campus. (May be half at one campus and half at another)
4-Prospective sub will return mentor sheet to Mrs. Mund for review.
5-After review, you may be placed on substitute list and into aesop system

Substituting for a Certified Classroom Teacher, LVN, RN or Librarian
$85.00 a day- Pay rate for substituting for a certified classroom teacher, LVN, RN, or Librarian.
$42.50 a half day- Pay rate for substituting for half a day for a certified classroom teacher, LVN, RN, or Librarian.
$85.00 a day- Pay rate for Long Term Subs (Must be a certified teacher) for a certified classroom teacher after 20 days in the same assignment pay will increase to $105 a day (as long as the sub was not absent) anytime during the 20 days. (A long-term assignment is defined as working in the same teaching position where the substitute teacher is considered the teacher of record and works a minimum of 20 consecutive days without a break in service. Long term assignments may include duties such as developing lesson plans, grading papers, entering grades into the computer system, attending staff meetings after school hours, bus duty, lunch duty or additional classroom supervision at the request of the campus administrator. The substitute teacher in the long term assignment is expected to fulfill all assigned duties. Once the 20-day consecutive minimum is reached in a payroll period, a $20/day increase will be paid retroactively to the first day of the assignment. Once the sub has reaches the $105 (21st day with no absence) the count starts again if the sub works another 29 consecutive days with no missed time (the 41st day with no absence) pay will increase to $160 for the duration of the teacher absence as long as the sub stays in that job. Retirees through TRS who are subbing in a long term VACANT position may be required to pay a TRS surcharge monthly.
Substituting in a HIGH NEEDS SPED position or Day Care Worker (HR determines high need)
$95.00 a day- Pay rate of subbing in a HIGH NEEDS special education position or at the day care
$47.50 a half day- Pay rate of subbing in a HIGH NEEDS special education position or at the day care.
Substituting as a teacher at Fredericksburg Primary School
$90.00 a day- Pay rate for substituting at the Primary School (except nurse, clerk and ed. aide)
$45.00 a half day- Pay rate for substituting half a day at the Primary School (except nurse, clerk and ed. aide)
Substituting for an Educational Aide at all campuses
$80.00 a day- Pay rate for substituting in an Educational Aide position. (Rate is the same no matter how many days)
$40.00 a half day- Pay rate for substituting for half a day in an Ed. Aide position.
Substituting for a Clerical position
$80.00 a day- Pay rate for substituting in a clerical position.
$40.00 a half day- Pay rate for substituting for half a day in a position.
$85.00 a day- Pay rate for substituting in a clerical position after 10 days.
$90.00 a half day- Pay rate for substituting fin the same clerical position after 20 days.
You may be asked to sub for a teacher, educational aide, RN, LVN, day care worker or a clerk if necessary.
Subs must have a clear criminal background check and reference checks to be eligible for substituting at FISD.
(Need to be out of high school at least 5 years before subbing at the high school level.)
