VAN DRIVERS
Major Responsibilities:
1. Drives assigned vehicle safely, observing Connecticut motor vehicle laws and regulations; observing EdAdvance safety and security procedures
2. Maintains schedules; adheres to established routes; contributes to scheduling decisions to increase efficiency or safety
3. Maintains cleanliness and general condition of assigned vehicle. Reports problems to Transportation Services Manager
4. Keeps accurate records: daily mileage log, weekly service log, accident reports, confidential emergency cards for each passenger
5. Creates a safe, comfortable and orderly atmosphere for passengers. Reports incidents or challenging behavior of passengers to Transportation Services Manager
6. Other duties as may be assigned
7. Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
VAN DRIVER Qualifications:
1. Must have a high school diploma/GED
2. Valid Connecticut license with V endorsement or CDL w/P&S endorsements; clean driving record
3. Requires ability to communicate with children, parents and teachers. Must be able to establish a positive relationship with children to maintain order and handle emotional or behavioral problems
4. Requires accountability for decisions made regarding discipline, orderliness and road emergencies
work under the supervision of the Manager of Transportation Services in the Division of Operations
5. Ability to work independently, w/ excellent judgment, in the best interests of the passengers and the agency. Errors in judgment may reflect negatively on the agency and effect continued employment
