The Superintendent invites qualified and interested candidates to apply for the position of   Substitute Custodian C.
Camden City School District is in a historic period of change. With the recent state intervention, Camden is uniquely poised to transform and re-focus its efforts to ensure all students have the academic and personal skills required to succeed in life. Currently, Camden City has 22 district, 7 Renaissance, and 11 charter schools serving more than 15,000 students in total, of whom nearly 95% qualify for free or reduced price lunch. The district is committed to building talented and committed cadres of educators and providing the appropriate supports to schools to ensure all students can be successful.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of modern cleaning methods, materials and equipment
  • Experience in Custodial related functions (preferred)
  • Personal qualities of orderliness and neatness
  • Demonstrates ability to read and follow directions found on supplies and equipment printed in English
  • Ability to do heavy lifting of a minimum of Fifty (50) pounds and perform heavy duty tasks
  • Required criminal history background check, physical and proof of U. S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
A CCSD Custodian is specifically responsible for:
  • Sweeping, mopping, buffing, washing and performing related cleaning tasks, including but not limited to all instructional areas, toilets, walkways, asphalt areas, hallways, entrances, meeting rooms, etc.
  • Cleaning and dusting walls, blackboards, lockers, furniture and plumbing fixtures and other areas/items as appropriate
  • Washing windows and other glass areas
  • Maintaining stockroom, storage areas and supply closets in a safe manner, including the removal of rubbish and debris
  • Moving supplies, furniture and equipment as directed by the Principal/Supervisor, using appropriate safety equipment and procedures
  • Heavy lifting of a minimum of Fifty (50) pounds and the performance of heavy duty tasks
 
Additional performance responsibilities include:
  •  Assistance in making sure all doors are locked and unlocked and to assure all areas are secured to prevent unauthorized access as directed by the Principal/Supervisor
  • Checking fuel/oil levels (when appropriate), replacing light bulbs and making minor repairs.
  • Raising and lowering the flag, according to protocol
  • Reporting or correcting dangerous or unsightly conditions on and around the premises including disposal of rubbish
  • Assistance in maintaining an inventory and securing equipment and supplies, including but not limited to applicable technology such as HVAC, computers and other systems
  • Performance of assigned duties in accordance with general acceptable industry safety standards
  • Conducting periodic building checks of all doors and other areas as required to make sure the facility is secure and operational when assigned evening and/or weekend assignments by the Supervisor or Director of Plant Services
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Principal/Supervisor
