Description

VACANCY:  The Valley View Public School District is seeking two (2) individuals to fill full time Registered Behavior Technician Aide positions for the 2022/2023 school year.

JOB SUMMARY:  The Registered Behavior Technician Aide performs functions including assisting the Teacher in a variety of semi-instructional tasks.  Works primarily in a Special Educational setting and provides support to a student or students with significant disabilities within the classroom and around the building; must be able to assist with communication, scheduling, and modifications of curriculum.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

  • Assists the Teacher in a variety of semi-instructional tasks.
  • Works primarily in a special educational setting providing support to a student or students with significant disabilities within the classroom and around the building.
  • Assists with communication, scheduling, and modifications of curriculum.
  • Implement, coach staff, gather data, and collaborate with teachers, clinicians, and Behavior Analysts in the designs of student, classroom, and program behavior plans
  • Assists in the implementation of student Individualized Education Plans/Support Plans/Health Care Plans, which may include toileting, feeding, and Crisis Response
  • Perform all duties as requested by the Principal, Assistant Principal, and Assistant Director of Student Services
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
  • Completed 60 semester hours of college credit from a regionally accredited institution of higher education or passed the ETS Parapro/WorkKeys assessment
  • Evidence of a  Paraprofessional license with the Will County Regional Office of Education to serve as a teacher aide
  • Current and valid certification as a Registered Behavior Technician or the willingness to complete the certification process within one year
 
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of curriculum materials, instructional techniques, and program methodology
  • Thorough understanding of principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, Verbal Behavior Methodology
  • Foundational understanding of special education services and disabilities
  • Good understanding of data collection procedures
  • Initiative to follow through with assigned tasks
  • Effective communication skills
  • Should serve as a role model for all students and perform their duties to create an environment that is conducive to providing students an enhanced and engaged learning opportunity
  • Ability to maneuver students
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:  Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperature, noise and hazards are relatively nonexistent.  Students may require toileting, feeding and lifting.  Students may require close proximity and support during aerobic activity, such as Physical Education. 
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTSalary is in accordance with the paraprofessional salary schedule. The work year for this position is 185 days.
