Enrichment Teacher (Gifted Education)

Primarily responsible for collaborating with classroom teachers to provide enrichment services to support math and literacy instruction concepts along with critical thinking and problem solving skills to identified students in grades three through five; View each student in a balanced holistic perspective, equally valuing academic, social, and emotional growth within each of student; Provive a high level of understanding that each child is an individual with individual needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Identify students who are in the top percentile in mathematics and/or reading on the most recent academic data for enrichment classes based on predetermined criteria.
Develop and implement lesson plans that integrate the Illinois priority standards for math and reading; support literacy and inquiry driven transdisciplinary units of inquiry.
Work cooperatively with building principals, instructional coaches, and teachers to address the needs of identified students in the Enrichment Program to support teachers with enrichment resources for their classrooms.
Travel as required to fulfill responsibilities of the job.
Communicate with teachers on identified students and possible teacher recommended students on a case by case basis.
Communicate with parents about their identified child(ren) and their child(ren)’s quarterly progress.
Provide regular data of student progress to teachers during team meetings.
Create an environment of collaboration, self-directed learning, critical thinking, and problem solving of real world situations.
Create opportunities for use of technology to research and communicate.
Utilize differentiated instructional strategies to promote high level thinking, abstract reasoning, and independent learning.
Serve on the Enrichment / Acceleration Committee.
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of regularly scheduled reports.
Develop staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities as needed.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Collaborate with the Director to prepare and process various district documents to meet district, county, state and/or federal regulations.
Attend meetings, training, and seminars as required.
Continue professional development as provided by the District.
Other duties as assigned by the Principal and Director.

Ability to interpret and dissect data.
Strong knowledge of the Illinois State Standards for math and reading.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in a job-related area, a valid Illinois Professional Educator License, and an Elementary Education Endorsement are required. Math Endorsement, Reading Endorsement, and Gifted Endorsement preferred. Any equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that meets the minimum requirements.
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. The general job required 30% sitting, 20% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
