Essential Skills Instructional Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be highly qualified by either having 48 college credit hours or by passing the ParaPro Assessment test

DUTY DAYS: 180

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
          Individual and small group instruction of academic, functional skills and behavior for students with special          needs in an Essential Skills classroom

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participates in classroom activity planning.

• Conducts learning exercises with small groups of children and individual students.

• Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.

• Helps maintain individual records for each child.

• Assists teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.

• Assists with the supervision of children during regular play periods and lunch supervision.

• Assists with daily living skills, may include toileting

• Participate in specific training identified by administration

• Follows individual behavior plans

• Attends community based instructional activities

• Completes annual employee training

• Maintains consistent attendance

• Performs other duties as assigned
