TITLE:

SUPERVISOR OF INTERVENTION PROGRAMS

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. VALID NEW JERSEY SUPERVISOR AND/OR PRINCIPAL CERTIFICATE

  2. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AS DETERMINED BY THE BOARD

  3. BROAD KNOWLEDGE OF CHILD GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT, COUNSELING, SPECIAL EDUCATION/CHILD STUDY TEAM

  4. DEMONSTRATED ABILITY TO EFFECTIVELY ADMINISTER STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES, TO WORK WITH TEACHERS AND PARENTS

  5. STRONG LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  6. REQUIRED CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK AND PROOF OF U.S. CITIZENSHIP OR RESIDENT ALIEN STATUS

REPORTS TO:

HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL AND SUPERINTENDENT

 

SUPERVISES:

INTERVENTION AND REFERRAL SERVICES TEAM,  GUIDANCE COUNSELORS, SUBSTANCE ABUSE COORDINATOR, PARAPROFESSIONALS. EVALUATE SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS, RELATED SERVICES PROFESSIONALS, PARAPROFESSIONALS, AND THOSE ASSIGNED BY THE SUPERINTENDENT. 

 

JOB GOAL:

TO ENABLE ALL PUPILS TO BENEFIT FROM THEIR EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES TO THE FULLEST BY ELIMINATING OR AMELIORATING THOSE PROBLEMS THAT PREVENT OR INTERFERE WITH STUDENT LEARNING. TO EXECUTE POLICIES AS PRESCRIBED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, AS THEY RELATE TO THE CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT OF AN EDUCATIONAL CLIMATE THAT SERVES THE NEEDS OF THE STUDENTS. 

 

PERFORMANCE

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. PROVIDES LEADERSHIP IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE DISTRICT’S STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES PROGRAMS; COORDINATES AND SUPERVISES RELATED ACTIVITIES. EVALUATES EXISTING PROGRAMS AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT. 

  2. OVERSEES THE DISTRICT’S I&RS AND 504 PLANS; INCLUDING DEVELOPING PROGRAMS, PROCEDURES, FORMS, AND MANUAL. DESIGN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR THE I&RS TEAMS AND STAFF. 

  3. COORDINATE THE ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR GRADES 6 - 12. DEVELOP PROGRAMMING THAT INCLUDES EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING, INCLUDING FACILITATING STAFF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

  4. SUPERVISE THE OPERATIONS AND SERVICES IN THE SELF-CONTAINED CLASSROOMS. COORDINATE NECESSARY TRAINING FOR STAFF AND PARAPROFESSIONALS.

  5. DEVELOP RESOURCES AND MANUAL FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS TO AID IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF APPROPRIATE  GOALS AND OBJECTIVES AND PLAFFS. TRAIN STAFF ON CREATING APPROPRIATE  GOALS AND OBJECTIVES AND PLAFFS. MONITOR SUBMITTED GOALS AND OBJECTIVES AND PLAFFS.

  6. SUPERVISE THE READING ENRICHMENT AND ORTON GILLINGHAM PROGRAMS. DEVELOP ENTRANCE AND EXIT CRITERIA FOR THE PROGRAMS. ENSURE CONSISTENCY OF PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT.

  7. OVERSEES THE DEVELOPMENT AND EFFECTIVE DELIVERY OF THE DISTRICT'S GUIDANCE PROGRAM. FACILITATE BUILDING TRANSITION PROGRAMS. PROMOTE COLLABORATION BETWEEN CST AND GUIDANCE COUNSELORS.

  8. INTERPRETS THE OBJECTIVES OF THE DISTRICT'S PUPIL SERVICES PROGRAM TO PARENTS, STUDENTS, STAFF, AND THE COMMUNITY.

  9. COOPERATES WITH BUILDING PRINCIPALS TO PLAN, COORDINATE AND EVALUATE THE PUPIL SERVICES PROGRAM AND TO EVALUATE THE PERFORMANCE OF STUDENT SERVICES STAFF ASSIGNED TO EACH SCHOOL.

  10. PARTICIPATES IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF IN-SERVICE PROGRAMS.

  11. PERFORMS OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS MAY BE ASSIGNED BY THE SUPERINTENDENT.

 

TERMS OF

EMPLOYMENT:

 

 

TEN AND HALF MONTHS AND SALARY TO BE DETERMINED BY THE BOARD.

 

EVALUATION:

 

PERFORMANCE OF THIS JOB WILL BE EVALUATED ANNUALLY IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE LAW AND PROVISIONS OF THE BOARD'S POLICY ON EVALUATION OF CERTIFIED STAFF.
