A.  Education Level:  Bachelor degree or higher
B.  Certification or Licensure:  Valid Nebraska teaching certificate with an endorsement in middle level science or elementary education.
C.  Experience Desired:  Teaching experience preferred, but not required.

REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal     

  1. Must be able to teach the Nebraska State Standards associated with an integrated science program emphasizing inquiry in chemistry, physical science, earth science and life science as adopted by the Board of Education and as directed by the building principal.
  1. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individual and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the need of each student.
  1. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  1. Evaluates student's academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
  1. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student's progress and interpret the school program.
  1. Identifies student needs and works with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems.
  1. Creates an effective environment for learning through subject related displays.
  1. Maintains professional confidence through in-services, educational activities and professional growth activities.
  1. Is knowledgeable of and understands the nature of the early adolescent student.
  1. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
  1. Serves as an Advisory teacher directing students in activities related to developing decision-making skills, conflict resolution strategy and self-esteem.
  1. Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
  1. Exhibits ability to work with colleagues in group and team settings.
  1. Exhibits flexibility in working with Interdisciplinary Teams.
  1. Provides a variety of developmentally appropriate learning experiences in which students are actively engaged in the learning.
  1. Builds positive rapport and focus on student success and achievement.
  1. Understands and uses technology to science related topics.
  1. Work effectively in a Professional Learning Community.
  1. Continually use data to drive instructional decisions.
