Teacher: High School Occupational Safety Teacher

Qualifications:

Must have job experience in the construction industry.  Must hold or have the ability to obtain a clear, valid Georgia Educator Certificate in Construction, Construction and Maintenance Trades, Construction Cluster, Engineering and Technology, HVACR, Metal Working Occupations Cluster, Precision Machine Technology, Sheet Metal, Welding and Cutting, Welding Technology.  The following link from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GAPSC) provides details on how to obtain these certificates.  

Fingerprinting and criminal background are check required.

Ability to work with administrators, counselors, other teachers, pupils, parents and the general public

Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of tasks assigned

Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

REPORTS TO:  Principal or Designee

JOB GOAL:  To provide classroom instruction that will advance the knowledge of students and to enhance the overall quality of the school system.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follow professional practices consistent with school and system policies in working with students, student records, parents, and colleagues.

Interact in a professional manner with students and parents.

Facilitate home-school communication by holding conferences, telephoning and sending written communications.

Maintain confidentiality of students and students’ records.

Work cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents.

Comply with school, system, and state administrative regulations and Board of Education policies.

Conduct assigned classes at the times scheduled.

Enforce regulations concerning student conduct and discipline.

Be punctual.

Provide adequate information, plans and materials for substitute teacher.

Maintain accurate, complete, and appropriate records and files reports promptly.

Attend and participate in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy.

Comply with conditions as stated in contract.

Demonstrate professional practices in teaching.

Model correct use of language, oral and written.

Demonstrate accurate and up-to-date knowledge of content.

Implement designated curriculum.

Maintain lesson plans as required by school policy.

Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students.

Act in a professional manner and assumes responsibility for the total school program, its safety and good order.

Take precautions to protect records, equipment, materials and facilities.

Assume responsibility for supervising students in out-of-class setting.

Perform other duties as needed and assigned by the principal or designee.
