POSITION DESCRIPTION: To provide oversight, assistance, and coordination of special education services and program supports.


Licensure Required:      Virginia Postgraduate Professional License

                      Education Required:      Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field

                Experience Required:      Has a minimum of five successful years teaching in the field of special education

                        Skills & Knowledge    Required:     Highly effective communication, listening, and interpersonal skills; strong conceptual skills and problem-solving capabilities; knowledgeable of strategic planning and IDEA and 504 regulations; ability to develop and effectively present ideas orally and in written form

  DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:      * Coordinate Special Education services and provide program support * Observe and provide growth producing feedback to teachers regarding instruction, student engagement, and classroom environment * Assist  with caseload compliance * Provide support to schools in all aspects of administration and implementation of services * Provide instructional support and develop professional learning for teachers and staff * Provide assistance and coordination of Manifestation Determination Review meetings * Coordinate Instructional Support Teams (IST) * Provide leadership and coordination of Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) programs, including representation of the school division on the Part C Interagency Collaboration Committee * Facilitate the Job Coach Program * Respond to inquiries from students, parents, agencies, teachers or members of the school community * Perform all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Student Support Services

  TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:     (12 -month contract, minimum of 7.5 hours per day)

  SALARY RANGE:   $53,286.00 - $91,273.00
