Supervisor of School Counseling (#318153)
POSITION DESCRIPTION: In conjunction with the Instruction Department, The Supervisor of School Counseling provides leadership, coordination, and innovation to provide students with a comprehensive school counseling program with a focus on college and career readiness.
Skills & Knowledge Required: Exceptional leadership qualities and interpersonal skills necessary for working effectively with teachers, support staff, administrators, and other members of the community; strong conceptual skills and problem-solving capabilities; knowledgeable of strategic planning and continuous improvement; knowledgeable of preK-12 instructional programs; ability to develop and effectively present ideas orally and in written form.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provides professional learning to all counselors * Along with the school principal, oversees K-12 counselors, Counseling Directors (Middle and High), School Counseling support staff * Provides leadership, oversight, and coordination of K-12 PBIS program * Plans and develops workshops and learning opportunities for parent and school community to assist them in acquiring an understanding of students and techniques and strategies essential for academic and personal/social growth * Plans, develops, and coordinates credit and noncredit courses and graduation requirements * Supports mental health services alongside the school social worker team * Provides leadership in the selection of instructional materials and equipment to support the school counseling program
* Plans for and manages allocation of resources needed by the school counseling programs in the operating budget * Works alongside school counselors as appropriate at school sites * Maintains liaison with the Virginia Department of Education, institutions of higher education, community service agencies, businesses, and governments, assuring the appropriate utilization of their services by schools * Provides professional learning to school registrars to ensure accuracy of student records * Provides students and families with immediate and long-range educational planning and course selection as appropriate * Collects, analyzes, and uses data to develop implement, and evaluate the school counseling program * Gathers and edits information for the annual middle and high school Program of Studies * Develops or revises SCS policies for Board approval or regulation * Performs duties as a school counselor * Performs related duties as assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: (12 -month contract, minimum of 7.5 hours per day)
SALARY RANGE: $88,943.00 - $114,980.00
