Special Education Teacher
Must hold a certificate issued by Oklahoma State Department of Education.
The certificate must be in Standard Professional Certificate I.
The certificate position area must be in Special Education (General).
The certificate status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.
•Oversee special education caseload for students in PreK-5 elementary school •Collaboration/Co-teaching in English and Math classrooms according to IEPs •Provide direct instruction in a resource lab according to IEPs •All special education related paperwork will be in compliance with the most current version of Part B of the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Policies and Procedures for Special Education in Oklahoma. •Be a resource and trainer to general education classroom teachers in order for them to most appropriately educate students with disabilities in the general education curriculum and activities. Train them to be special education teachers and advocates in the general education classroom. There should be a constant collaboration between special education and general education teachers. •Work with students in accordance with their Individualized Education Program (IEP). Ensure that we offer a free appropriate public education (FAPE) for all children and young adults with disabilities that: 1) emphasizes special education and related services that are designed to meet their unique needs; and 2) prepares them for postsecondary education, employment, and independent living.
Pay is based on the OKCPS special education salary scheduled plus 5%
