Learning Support Math Teacher (SPED Cert. Req.) - Washington High School (#281323)
SPED: in Special Education develop, implement and evaluate instructional programs for exceptional students. A teacher in this position plans classroom lessons and activities in accordance with the skill level of students; develops and uses techniques and materials to enhance the students' academic abilities and to support specific educational needs which require specially designed instruction; ensures that the classroom is arranged to promote learning and implements effective educational interventions as needed. In addition, the Teacher of Special Education develops an Individual Education Plan for each student; serves on a multi-disciplinary team with other professional and paraprofessional staff members; collaborates with team members in the planning and development of a comprehensive educational program for students; reviews and evaluates students' progress and the overall effectiveness of the program; conducts parent conferences; and performs related duties as required.
MATH: Under the general direction of the school principal, the Teacher of Mathematics plans units of work including content, process, and sequence of study; uses a variety of published and self developed materials to present subject matter; holds discussions with parents, faculty, and other school personnel to evaluate the program and student performance; keeps abreast of new developments in pedagogy and technical improvement in textbooks and materials; attends faculty meetings to discuss school problems and teaching methods; may participate in curriculum committees or other academic activities; maintains classroom discipline; maintains attendance grade and other required records; and performs related duties as required.
