Technology Specialist (Instructional Design and Professional Development)
Technology Solutions Division

Reports to: Director of Technology Solutions/CTO 

Job Summary -  Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct technology and process support for beginning teachers, mentors, and facilitators working in the TEAM (Teacher Education and Mentoring ) Program.
  • Participate on the TEAM application development team. Provide input for software enhancements. Build reports. Report on software and usability issues.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Connecticut State Department of Education TEAM program team.
  • Develop instructional content for online delivery (typically self-paced asynchronous) with content experts.
  • Prepare other written materials, such as user guides, reports, letters and memos, for the purpose of documenting procedures and activities and providing instruction to others. 
  • Maintain contact with content experts to support continuous review of content.
  • Develop and coordinate technology-oriented enrichment programs for learners of all ages.
  • Develop personal content expertise as strategically necessary.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in EASTCONN provided services. Provide support to customers as assigned.
  • Identify and/or respond to potential instructional or data systems customers. Answer questions. Identify service parameters. Prepare service contracts.
  • Travel to client district locations as required.
  • Maintain a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Other duties as directed by supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:  None.
Required Education:  Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Required Experience and/or Certification:
  • This is a non-certified professional position.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in developing and delivering online instruction.
  • Proficiency in learning management system-based content development.
  • Help desk or technical support experience
  • Database and reporting tool experience.
  • Advanced experience in MSOffice.
  • Valid CT driver's license, personal vehicle, and proof of insurance.
Desired Experience and/or Certifications:
  • Undergraduate degree related to instructional delivery or instructional development.
  • Classroom teaching experience.
  • General technology support experience.
  • Familiarity with Connecticut educator professional development requirements.
Work Year:  12 months.
