Under the general supervision of the School Principal, Sterling teachers facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students by creating a flexible, safe and culturally responsive learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals as determined by the superintendent of schools.
The Math Specialist provides 1) instructional interventions; 2) professional development and coaching; and 3) curriculum, assessment, and program improvement for mathematics. This teacher leadership position provides direct support to both students and teachers to meet Sterling’s Math Standards. The Math Specialist reports to the Superintendent and Building Principal. Working through the Principal or Superintendent, the Math Specialist may request necessary reports, data or information from teachers, call necessary meetings and require that established policies, program and procedures be complied with. The Math Specialist is supervised and evaluated by the Building Principal. The Math Specialist supervises math support personnel (such as paraprofessionals).
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Must be eligible for State of CT certification
Prior job related experience required
