Description

Job Title: Licensed Electrician Location: District Wide
Class Title: Full Time - Nonexempt Effective Date: 5/6/21
Salary Range: $32.71 - 33.71 Hours per week: 40
 

General Statement: This position is designed to provide students, staff and citizens with a safe, attractive, clean and efficient place to learn and meet. The Staff Electrician installs and maintains electrical fixtures as required including but not limited to interior/exterior lighting, emergency lighting, circuit breakers, switches, motor starters, motors, sensors, VFD drives, generators, alarm systems, heating and exhaust systems, conduits, cable and relays. Plans and performs preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on all electrical systems and components, including HVAC/R, backup power, and communications systems.

Responsibilities: 

  • Installs, inspects and maintains, electric wires and cables including appliances, machinery, overhead circuits, underground conduits and maintains motor controls.

  • Inspects, installs, and maintains communication, signaling, and other electronic systems
  • Estimates cost of electrical repair projects and obtains quotes from vendors as necessary.
  • Completes all required preventative maintenance and compliance documentation.
  • Observes and demonstrates all OSHA safety standards.
  • Examines School District-owned facilities on a regular basis to ensure proper operations.
  • Maintain heating ventilation, air conditioning and Building Management Systems.
  • Monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.
  • Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
  • Must be available to work overtime, holidays, weekends, for emergency situations
  • Thorough knowledge of the N.E.C. codebook

Qualifications:

  • Relevant job experience:
    • Minimum of five (5) years' experience as electrician in private or public sector preferred but not required.
  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification & Licensing:
    • Current Licensed Electrician.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Work involves constant exposure to outdoor elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
    • Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
    • Requires the ability to; climb, work on ladders, roof scuttles, roof areas, scissor lifts, aerial platforms, bucket trucks, scaffolding, crawlspaces, digging for subgrade utilities.
    • Work environment involves exposure to situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
    • Authorized to work in the USA.
    • Current national background check without disqualifying results at time of hire.
