Fluency in English and Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking fluently)
Excellent communication and public speaking skills in both English and Spanish

Job Goal: The Family Liaison is responsible for increasing parent and family involvement in schools and supporting effective communication between parents, teachers, administrators and the larger community. The liaison provides resources and support to a diverse student population, their families, and community.
Reports To: Director of Staff & Student Services Director & Director of Language Acquisition
The Family Liaison will observe the school calendar as adopted by the Board of Education, working 176 days per school year. In addition, the Family Liaison will work 15 days during the summer to support registration, back to school events, translation/interpretation, and to attend meetings/events. Attendance is required at two district institute days. Attendance at Board of Education meetings and periodic evening events is expected, with the option for flexible scheduling of work hours, as necessary.
Serves as a liaison between families and the school district.
Develops relationships with families via phone calls, home visits, events, and meetings in order to encourage participation in school and/or district activities and events.
Develops relationships with community groups to enhance communication and encourage participation in school and/or district activities and events.
Serves as an advocate for students and families while working with staff to identify challenges and develop solutions.
Conducts welcome sessions for families new to the district.
Assesses student and family needs in order to develop action plans to support student success.
Supports the Bilingual Parent Advisory Council.
Informs families of district policy and procedures and provides guidance for school, district, and community programs and resources.
Provides informational sessions and parent education workshops for families and/or community members.
Provides interpreting services in English and Spanish for students, staff, and families during meetings or events (i.e. conferences, workshops, school and/or district meetings, Board of Education meetings, etc.).
Provides translation of materials designed to inform family and community members (i.e. letters, announcement, web content, flyers, newsletters, special education documents, presentations, etc.).
Maintains accurate records and reports of activities for program grants, district and state audits, and Board of Education reports.
Conducts needs assessments and supports building and district level improvement initiatives for parent involvement.
Attends staff meetings, in-service training, and professional development, as needed.
Performs other tasks and projects as assigned to support students, staff, and families
