District Technician Job Opportunity
The District Technician provides support of the school’s technology program and equipment and assist all users of technology. The District Technician is the first-level position for the technology department.
The District Technician must support the mission of the Skokie School District 73.5 Technology department and ensure all members are unified toward a common goal. He/she provides support and expertise for District Technology programs and services to enhance their effectiveness in supporting District staff, schools, and students.
The District Technician will support all aspects of Skokie School District 73.5 technology including but not limited to Strategy and Planning, Budgetary Responsibility, Infrastructure, as well as management of the Helpdesk. The District Technician reports to the Director of Innovation and Instructional Technology.
Monitor the Help Desk proactively taking new tickets as well as tickets that are assigned to you.
Provide site support to all users of the organization (students, staff, parents). Support equipment & network operations. Maintenance and repair.
Serve as liaison to software and hardware vendors to maintain appropriate product support.
Assist in setting up equipment for special programs and meetings as required.
Provide assistance to end users to identify and correct equipment and software related problems.
Installation and troubleshooting use of classroom hardware.
Responsible for district employee access to systems, training, security, and use policies.
Provide support in troubleshooting of computer problems.
Interact with users on a daily basis to be able to see and understand technology problems and provide competent solutions to these problems.
Assist the Director of Technology and Innovation with the ongoing evaluation of the District Technology Plan.
Assist with the development of the policies and procedures that relate to the technology program.
Assist with the Erate processing.
Assist with the final recommendations on the purchase, use and maintenance of technology equipment.
Visit and inspect equipment on a regular basis and/or as directed.
Assist and coordinate building projects related to technology support and expansion projects.
Develop and maintain task priority lists for projects, day-to-day activities, and annual maintenance.
Maintain inventory of all technology assets and other assets as assigned by the supervisor.
Quality control, cleanliness of work areas, resolution of help desk tickets.
Communicate with all stakeholders in a timely fashion.
Comply with applicable state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations and compliance requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Innovation and Instructional Technology.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in computer technology or related field preferred.
Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communications, time management skills, self-direction, and initiative when given a variety of responsibilities.
Skills, Abilities, Knowledge:
Outstanding communication and organizational skills including the ability to create documentation and screen-casts for users.
Preferably have experience working with iPads and other mobile devices in education.
Experience with Mac and PC computer systems, server systems, databases, hardware, software, training, troubleshooting and technological support.
Knowledge of networking and client systems is a plus.
Experience with Google Suite (GSuite) for Education.
