POSITION TITLE: Food Service Assistant Manager 2021-22 School Year
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Food Service / Prairie Trail Middle School
HOURS OF WORK: 7 Hours Daily/167 Calendar Days Yearly (reporting hours - 6:30AM - 2 PM)
STATUS: Classified – Non-Exempt, Full Time
HOURLY PAY: $14.54
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing support to the food service activities at assigned location with specific responsibilities for organizing food preparation activities.
This position is expected to assist and oversee Food Service Staff with confirming quantities and quality of food, food preparation, serving items available for use, and keeping written reports to ensure compliance with mandated health requirements.
This position is part of food service and reports to the Food Service Manager.
Assists scheduling assignments and work hours for Food Service Staff.
Climatizes newly hired employees to work center and school site processes.
Completes and documents transactions, processes receipts, and prepares bank deposits.
Evaluates prepared food for appearance, flavor, and temperature.
Implements menu plans meeting students mandated daily nutritional requirements.
Inspects and inventories orders confirming quality, quantity, and specifications of orders.
Maintains a sanitary food service environment complying with current health standards.
Manages food service operations to health and follows mandated standards.
Monitors food service operations to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment.
Oversees cooking, preparation, serving, and transportation of food and beverage items.
Prepares documentation in the form of records, reports, sheets, and summaries.
Responds to inquiries from the community, staff, and students regarding food services.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Associate or bachelor’s business or business-related degree preferred.
Restaurant or retail management experience preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
High degree of confidentiality, motivation, and responsibility.
Demonstrated ability in analyzing, compiling, and organizing data.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment.
Highly collaborative team player.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.).
Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results.
This position requires the performance of medium work. The position involves some balancing, climbing, crawling crouching, kneeling, and respective motion. Occasional feeling, fingering, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, standing, talking, and reaching. Frequent hearing and walking. The position also requires working in environmental conditions with varied atmospheric conditions, close quarters, extreme cold/heat, hazards, loud noise, indoor/outdoor environment, narrow aisles/passages, and vibrations.
