Applying for this position will place you in the Self-Contained Special Education Paraprofessional pool for positions that may occur throughout Monroe City Schools at the any grade level for the 2021-2022 school year.  


  1. Respect all students as individuals
  2. Perform all duties under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher and other appropriate authority
  3. Assist with teaching-related activities and non-teaching assignments, including activities of daily living, health, and personal hygiene
  4. Abide by the rules of the school, classroom, and district
  5. Work with all cultural and social groups of children or adults
  6. Cope with a wide variety of situations through adaptability and flexibility
  7. Maintain and respect the confidentaility of information
  8. Participate in professional development activities
  9. Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the philosophy of the program
  10. Demonstrate understanding and knowledge about teaching time spent in the community
  11. Work with all students, regardless of the disability and need
  12. Demonstrate efficiency and effectiveness in designated responsibilities
  13. Assist in the implementation of all behavior management programs in the classroom
  14. Be positive at all times with students, teacher, colleagues, and families
  15. Assist with simple medical procedures as assigned and trained
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by supervising authority
Note:  This list of responsibilities is not meant to be comprehensive of the responsibilities, duties, and tasks teachers conduct.  The School Principal and/or designee, the District Superintendent, and District Supervisors may assign other responsibilities as needed.  These may include on- or off-campus monitoring/duty of students.
Qualifications for Paraprofessionals Include:
  • Associate's Degree or 60 college credit hours in applicable coursework, or
  • Satisfactory score on ParaPro Examination
  • Complete background check 
  • Drug screen
  • Ability to perform the above responsibilities
  • Satisfactory professional references
