As assigned or directed by the Principal or designee, designs, develops and implements high-quality student-centered instructional approaches that facilitate continuous progress of students toward course, subject area and grade level objectives.

  • Direct management of the NJROTC program effectively according to law, regulations, policies, and principles.
  • Prepares the annual Operational plan; develops a schedule for the year reflecting school activities and NJROTC objectives and activities; includes cadets in the planning; organizes cadets and resources toward objectives.
  • Coordinates cadet activities with the principal, CTAE coordinator and other department heads as appropriate.
  • Performs administrative tasks; maintains student records, markets the JROTC Program; conducts public relations program in the school and community.
  • Teaches JROTC cadets; achieves the curricular requirements and learning standards of the program, attains and improves proficiency in all military and other subjects taught; continuous improves Navy JROTC instruction; recommends changes to curriculum. Responsible for implementation of the JROTC regulations and directives.
  • Counsels students on their academic performance and as members of the Corps of Cadets; assists interested students in applying for Senior ROTC scholarships and completing service academy applications.
  •  Accomplishes required school tasks; participates in staff meetings, school committees and student activities, performs tasks requires of all other teachers in the school.
  •  Plans, organizes and conducts extracurricular activities such as color guard, marksmanship, drill teams, and community service activities.
  • Oversees training requirements and submission of requisitions for materials and ensures facilities provided are adequate to support program.
  •  Establishes and maintains public affairs and is involved in community relations and the liaison with other Navy and civilian agencies unit supply or administrative functions.
  • Conducts risk assessment for all activities; observes and enforces all Navy and school safety guidelines.
  • Complies to the letter with Navy and school district safety guidelines in all instances when instructing, supervising, monitoring, accompanying or escorting cadets.
  • Develops professional qualifications participates in instructor conferences, all professional development opportunities and state and district continuing education.
  • Prepares the unit for official visits and formal inspections.
  • Actively recruits students to join JROTC; maintain enrollment at or above 100 cadets or a minimum of 10% of school enrollment.
  • Modifies and improves given instruction by remaining continuously alert to new and alternative instructional methods and motivational techniques
  • Wear the service uniform at least once a week while performing Navy JROTC functions.
  • Serves as counselor for the NSI assigned and works effectively as a team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
