Employment: 12 month. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
SUMMARY: To assistant students and families with enrollment to Seymour Community Schools while maintaining accurate records in compliance with state and federal regulations. To provide Spanish language assistance and information to callers, visitors, and staff. To serve as a resource for families and community members to ensure access to school information and activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ENROLLMENT
Assist families with enrollment processes while maintaining accurate records.
Manage and Maintain office including answering phone calls and maintaining appropriate documentation of student records.
Assist other office personnel in the performance of routine office duties when needed.
Send for records on all new students and make a permanent card/folder/health card.
Assigns student STN numbers through the Department of Education.
Maintains and updates the student information system with relevant demographic information.
Perform any duties assigned by appropriate administrative personnel.
Ensure information/data is dealt with in the strictest of confidentiality and discretion
Abide by professional boundaries in the handling of privileged information.
Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with school personnel, students and parents.
Promote good public relations for the School Corporation and community.
Follow district guidelines and policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: TRANSLATION
Answers questions and interprets and/or translates appropriately and with correct pronunciation from source language to target language with speed and accuracy for both internal and external parties such as staff, parents, students, and/or public agencies for the purpose of providing information and/or routing inquiries.
Translates a wide variety of documents verbatim and idiomatic materials and conversations from the source language to the target language (e.g. forms, handbooks, curriculum, and testing materials, department forms, e-mail, literary books, newsletters) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy of information.
Provides timely written translations, on time attendance for meetings, and displays general professionalism.
Serves as a parent liaison to ensure parents and families are informed about and have access to school information, resources and schedules..
Teach by example by exemplifying good moral conduct.
Demonstrates professional growth
Other related duties as assigned by administration.
Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:
· Mastery of required source language to targeted second language to that of native speaker
· Correct language usage and pronunciation, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary
· Accurate translation of written documents
· Data input
· Operation of standard office equipment; usage of pertinent software applications; and
preparation and maintenance of accurate records.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED diploma
Job-related experience performing, interpreting, and translating functions preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondences, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
Ability to apply general mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
