The College of Business invites applications for a new staff position in Entrepreneurship to commence in January 2021 or as soon thereafter as possible.  This externally-funded, ten-month position represents an exciting opportunity to further develop the Severson Entrepreneurship Academy, bridging a traditional academic approach with application.  Separate from established College of Business academic curriculum, the Academy comprises multiple components designed to support College of Business Entrepreneurship major, minor and certificate, including student learning about entrepreneurship through a club format, a framework for business analysis, a speaker series, and the opportunity to involve students in hands-on application through community projects.  An individual with a strong entrepreneurial drive will manage an entrepreneurship club, support teaching entrepreneurship major and minor, serve as the Academy “champion,” and manage other Academy components as well as community outreach for this high-visibility program.  Significant community support for student engagement is available from the entrepreneurship community, and can be formalized in an advisory board.  This position reports directly to the MSU’s Associate Vice President.

Responsibilities include communicating with and maintaining good relations with the entrepreneurship community; leveraging program assets for additional private funding and managing other SEA activities.  Leading the Severson Entrepreneurship Academy Entrepreneurship Club through monthly meetings, and other activities. Scheduling business and entrepreneurship speakers from a variety of industries who will inspire and educate the students. Identifying new entrepreneurial projects for the Entrepreneurship Club. Supporting the College of Business Entrepreneurship major, minor and certificate. Involvement in university/community activities is expected.

Required:  An MBA or business-related master’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree (preferably related to business) and significant successful business experience in the corporate world and/or entrepreneurship.  The candidate must present evidence of ability to work with students; proven leadership and the ability to motivate adults; and effective oral and written communication skills.

The College of Business is a unit with twenty-five faculty members with approximately 700 undergraduate students, majoring in entrepreneurship, management, marketing, international business, management information systems, accounting, finance, and business education and about 100 graduate students in the Master of Science in Management (MSM), Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) programs and Master of Science in Sports Management (MSSM).  Most of undergraduate programs are currently offered on campus, online and in hybrid format.  The College of Business is accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE).  Minot State University is a regional, comprehensive institution of 3,000 students.  Minot, North Dakota, is a progressive community of 45,000 that offers outstanding quality of life features not normally associated with a community of its size.

Compensation:  Salary based upon education and experience.  Review of applications will begin on October 1, 2020.  The position will remain open until filled.
