Job Description: Paraprofessional
Assists and participates in teaching, protecting and providing care for preschool children; carries out lesson plans and other curriculum provided by the classroom Teacher. Participates in planning lessons, staff meetings, professional development, etc.
Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with experience with preschool children, preferably in a classroom / child care setting. Can supervise visually, with or without corrective lenses, to 40ft. Can independently lit up to 0 lbs., if necessary.
Prompt, reliable, dependable, honest, ability to accept constructive feedback from supervisors.
Good oral and written communication skills
Assist classroom teacher in implementation of age / developmentally appropriate lesson plans. Assist classroom teacher maintaining orderly, clean, welcoming classroom for children and parents. Present any notes, communication, messages to classroom teacher immediately upon receiving from parent, or other adult.
Interact positively with children at all times. Maintain visual supervision of children at all times. Observe individual children daily, maintain up to date information in assigned children portfolio, and provide input to classroom teacher for conferences.
Maintain appropriate documentation for each child, as directed by classroom teacher accident/incident report, sick report, daily notes, etc.
Assist in keeping community areas of building neat and clean; including playground area, bathrooms, snack area, common area, refrigerator, supply cabinets, etc. Keep toys / mats appropriately sanitized, according to NAEYC regulations.
Assist in keeping the program in compliance with NAEYC and classroom portfolio up to date on a weekly basis
Familiar with state licensing regulations regarding staff / child ratios, hand washing, communicable disease information, etc.
Familiar with NAEYC Quality Program Standards. Read and become familiar with Little Raiders University faculty and parent handbooks.
Attend required staff meetingas scheduled.
Certification in First Aid, PMT and DCF Mandated Reporter.
Participate in extracurricular activities such as parent orientation and after school events.
Report any unsafe or uncomfortable working conditions to the Program Director immediately.
Sensitivity to individual children and their families regarding; ethnicity, differences in cultures, religious affiliations, family structure, etc.
Work cooperatively with teacher providing positive role model for children.
Provide proof of negative TB Test results. Must be dated within the last 12 months before hire.
Three (3) letters of reference from adults not related to employee to be provided along with application for employment.
