Transportation Utility Worker
TRANSPORTATION UTILITY POSITION and DRIVER
Utilities Position in Transportation; 215 Days per year ( pro rated for start date), 8 hours per day
SALARY RANGE: Range 7 $14.99 - $18.28 This position includes benefits.
High school diploma or equivalent. In accordance with Colorado Rules and Regulations Governing Operation of School Transportation Vehicles, school bus drivers must meet all requirements of the State of Colorado with reference to health and licensing, and have satisfactory driving skill. Such skill shall include ability to operate the bus, and knowledge of an appreciation for safety considerations. Drivers shall be trained in first aid and hold a current first aid certificate. They shall be expected to participate in in-service training programs, such as driver meetings and regional or state institutes and driver training courses.
Pass a prescribed physical exam administered by a licensed physician approved by the district.
Pass the following tests and examinations administered or approved by the Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicle Division: Vision Test, Written Examination, and Driving Ability Test
REPORTS TO: Transportation Operations Manager
UTILITY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Clean vehicles, equipment and buildings to maintain safe environment
- Keep records on maintenance and repairs of vehicles and equipment
- Maintenance and minor repair of vehicles
- Drive regular routes and activity trips as needed
- Other duties as assigned
High school diploma or equivalent, plus specialized course in training and supervision or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LICENSE AND REQUIREMENTS:
Possess a valid Colorado Driver’s license, Class A or B with a school bus air brake and passenger endorsement. Must posses a current first aid and CPR card. Employee must have a current DOT physical. Employee must pass drug and alcohol screening and posses Third Party License with the state of Colorado. Certificates must include DT1, DT2, and DT3. Employee must receive training in special needs requirements.
CDE and CDL rules and regulations. Small vehicle requirement and record keeping. Employee record keeping. Proper methods of dealing with students and adults. Has the ability to work cooperatively and communicate with supervisor and co-workers. General computer skill and Excel spreadsheets.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent standing, bending, walking sitting, reaching. The employee occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds. Ability to push, pull and assist passengers in wheelchairs.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
At will employee. Work year and salary to be established by the Board of Education. Shall receive the benefits of sick leave, retirement and the usual policies which apply to classified personnel. Vacation time established by Board policies.
