Position Summary
The Gordon B. Olson Library at Minot State University, Minot, North Dakota, invites applications for a full-time Instruction and Reference Librarian.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and teach course-integrated library instruction sessions.
  • Provide reference services for both on- and off-campus students and faculty as scheduled, during the day as well as on regularly-scheduled evenings and weekends.
  • Collaborate with the ITC staff and the ODIN consortium staff to troubleshoot digital access to library collections via the proxy server, link resolver, and integrated library system.
  • Work with faculty and library colleagues to develop the collection in an assigned subject area.
  • Serve on campus committees.
  • Contribute to ongoing assessment of library collections, policies, and services.
  • Promote awareness of our resources and services by contributing to the library website, research guides, social media channels, and library events.
Required Qualifications
This position requires a Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library science program.  Other required qualifications include: a commitment to excellence in the teaching of information literacy skills; excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills; and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, faculty, administration, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications
Additional qualifications that we are looking for in the successful candidate include experience working in an academic library, experience teaching information literacy skills, proficiency using standard office software and library online tools, strong organizational and project-management skills, and experience with digital technologies such as link resolvers and proxy servers.
