The superintendent is expected to be the chief executive officer and provide professional and educational leadership to the school district.
LOCATION – Herrin C.U.S.D. 4 is a unit district consisting of four attendance centers.  North Side Primary Center houses students in PreK to 1st grade.  Herrin Elementary School houses students in grades 2nd to 5th.  Herrin Junior High School houses students in grades 6th to 8th, and Herrin High School includes students in 9th to 12th grade.  Herrin Elementary School was most recently given a designation of Exemplary, and the other three schools classified as Commendable.  Herrin High School boasts a very active scholarship program, enabling student to pursue post-secondary education opportunities across the state and country. Herrin is a city in Williamson County, Illinois and spans an area of 10 miles.  It is approximately 100 miles southeast of St. Louis and 300 miles south of Chicago.
