Special Education Instructional Assistant (Multi needs program)
Qualifications: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Endorsements; or
Educator License (ELS) with Stipulations with a Paraprofessional
Successful instructional assistant experience is preferred in regular education or special education.
Job Duties: The instructional assistant in Special Education will work with both general education and special education staff members to support learning for identified child(ren) with special needs. Responsibilities include instructing students in small groups and one-on-one settings in general education and self contained classrooms. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide supports stated in student’s individual education plans (IEPs). This role will also encompass helping students to develop positive interpersonal relationships with peers and adults: utilizing and modeling school behavior management programs: and assist in communications between students, teachers and parents as requested.
