POSITION:                                        HEAD CUSTODIAN
                                                       10:00 AM-6:30 PM 

                                                       Monday through Friday

COMPENSATION:            According to the Agreement with Local 517M, Service Employees International , AFL-CIO  The minimum starting wage will be $12.34 /hour, shift premium; dental and vision benefits available (Employees new to the district pay 10.0% of cost); Medical employee contribution 12-14% cost depending on single, two person, or family, Community Blue PPO, Rx $10, $20, $50, $20 office. Position covered by state school employee retirement plan (Public School Employees Retirement System)


         High school graduate

         Proficient in reading and writing skills

         Punctual with good attendance record

         Ability to lead by example

         Ability to relate to and cooperate with staff, students and the general public

         Knowledgeable in the use of a computer for generating maintenance and inspection reports, email, ordering custodial supplies, access and adjust the HVAC building management system

         Ability to maintain accurate records, including MSDS, AHERA, HVAC information, roof inspections, pest logs, etc.

         Ability to coordinate, cooperate with and assist fellow custodial/utility maintenance employees



         Knowledgeable and experienced working with the Health Department

         Knowledgeable in Integrated Pest Management procedures

         Knowledgeable and experienced working with the local fire inspector

         Complete assigned daily cleaning duties to expectations.

         Experienced with minor electrical repairs:

a.       Ballast replacement

b.       Switch and wall plug replacement

c.        Fluorescent light clip replacement

d.       Lamp/bulb replacement

         Experienced with minor plumbing repairs:

a.       Sloan valve repairs

b.       Drinking fountain repairs

c.       Minor faucet repairs

         Capable of maintaining a closed loop hot water boiler system.

         Installation of equipment:

a.       Capable of installing paper and soap dispensers

b.       Capable of assembling small furniture and equipment

         Experienced with HVAC preventative maintenance:

a.       Filter replacement

b.       Bearing, electric motor and pump lubrication

c.        Troubleshooting heating and ventilation problems

d.       Handling of indoor air quality issues

         Experienced with door and door hardware repairs and preventative maintenance:

a.       Door closer adjustment and maintenance

b.       Door lock troubleshooting and repairs

         Experienced in the maintenance of resilient floors

         Experienced and knowledgeable in the maintenance of carpeted floors

         Capable of performing playground equipment preventative maintenance:

a.       Replace swing seats

b.       Replace chain and s-hooks

c.       Tighten playground equipment hardware.

         Ability to operate a snow blower for the purpose of maintaining all sidewalks

 during the winter months

         Capable of performing preventative maintenance of a snow blower and all other gas/electric powered grounds equipment.

         Ability to lift a minimum of 35-50 pounds (repetitive lifting)

         Capable of handling grass cutting building site needs:

  1. Capable of performing preventative maintenance on a lawn mower

         Capable of climbing a ladder for roof inspections and interior light repairs

         Knowledgeable in the competent and safe use of chemicals to maintain clean and

       sanitized building condition

         Capable of completing breakfast and lunch time set ups including:

a.       Lunch table set up, breakdown and

b.       Table cleaning and sanitizing

c.       Floor sweeping, auto scrubbing/wet mopping

d.       Trash disposal

e.       Kitchen cleaning

         Responsible for jobs or tasks assigned by an immediate supervisor
