Employment: Temprorary/Part-time



Under regular supervision, provides knowledge, motivation, and leadership in Wrestling activities in which the student can excel to his/her full potential while competing in an atmosphere that adds to his/her total education including his/her physical well-being, moral character, and social and mental development. Monitors strength and conditioning of athletes; and encourages performance, including strategy, planning and adjustments. Reports to the Athletic Director and/or Principal.
                                                                           SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizes and supervises the district wrestling program.

Trains participants in area assigned. 

Evaluates and studies game films and opponents.

Prepares and teaches weekly game plan.

Performs assigned duties in accordance with Fairfield Central High School Athletic Department and Administrative guidelines.

Assists with consulting athletes disciplinary or psychological problems to promote team unity.

Assists with coordinating the overall game/practice schedule for the wrestling program.

Assists with arranging practice equipment and preparing for games.

Promotes the welfare and academic progress of student-athletes.

Keeps statistics of each game.

Participates in coaching clinics, conferences, and other professional growth activities.
Compiles data and reports as required by the athletic department.
Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the Athletic Director.

Maintains the equipment room in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security. 

Supervises students at all times from the time practice or activity begins until all students leave campus.

Monitors the physical condition of student constantly during physical activity; enforces safety rules and regulations.

Follows established procedures in the event of an injury. 

Encourages academic excellence of student athletes.

Performs support tasks such as distributing and maintain eligibility forms, emergency data cars, and other related records. 

Participates in special activities to include parent's night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies. 

Maintains positive relationships with parents; schedules and conducts conference with parents and student athletes as necessary.

Displays Good Sportsmanship and sets a good example at all times.

Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. 

Performs related duties as required.
Bachelor's degree in designated area with a valid South Carolina Teaching Certificate preferred supplemented by one to three years of coaching or participating in a high school basketball program or an equivalent combination of education training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must meet all qualifications established by the South Carolina High School League. Must possess and maintains high moral character and ability to work well with children. Must be willing to work flexible hours. Must possess knowledge of the sport assigned including, but not limited to, knowledge of training and conditioning techniques. Must possess ability to communicate with parents and students. Must possess a valid state driver's license.
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the district's Athletic Evaluation Instrument.
Coaches are subject to being evaluated by the athletic director or administration.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of remaining standing for extended periods of time, demonstrating fitness/athletic activities, stooping, kneeling and crouching, and some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12 to 20 pounds).

Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.

Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving assignments and/or directions from supervisors and lecturing / giving instruction and/or assignments to students and subordinates.

Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of policy and procedure manuals, sports rules and regulations, computer manuals, etc. Requires the ability to enter data into computer and prepare reports, records, rosters, guidelines, correspondence, etc., with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech. Must be able to speak with poise, voice control and confidence and to articulate information to others.

Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Requires the ability to use influence systems in the supervision of students and coaching staff. Requires the ability to make independent judgments in the absence of supervisor; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation. Must have the ability to comprehend and interpret received information and the ability to comprehend and implement basic office machinery / sports equipment functions.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow and give oral and written instructions; to counsel and teach students and subordinates. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with persons of varying ages and educational/cultural backgrounds and using sports / recreational terminology.

Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, to multiply and divide, to determine percentages and decimals, to determine time. Must be able to use practical applications of fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion.

Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape, and visually read various information.

Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using sports paraphernalia, automated office equipment and communications machinery.

Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items including computer keyboards, office equipment, control knobs, switches, sports equipment, etc. Must have significant levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.

Color Discrimination: Requires the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.

Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with an emergency or tight deadline. The worker may be subject to danger or risk to a moderate degree and to tension as a regular, consistent part of the job.

Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and hear: (talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words; hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear). Must be able to hear and understand communications through a telephone.

Is knowledgeable in the laws, ordinances, standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position.
