Data Assistant

Job Goal
The position is responsible for providing data accuracy in regards to all systems and the state SIS, helping Administrators retrieve needed data to track student performance; assist with keeping an updated online presence for regular and timely communication with stakeholders.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Monitors integrity of data to be used in analyzing data and evaluating student outcomes 
  • Ensures that all staff and students have needed access to the systems they are assigned to
  • Conducts regular uploads to ISBE’s SIS for accurate state reporting
  • Verifies monthly attendance figures and keeps daily and monthly enrollment figures; provides reports by required deadlines
  • Provides support in gathering and reporting of student assessment data
  • Works directly with the Director of Technology, Teachers, and support staff as needed
  • Conducts data uploads to a variety of systems including by not limited to ISBE SIS, PowerSchool, G Suite, and a variety of online curriculum systems
  • Works with the Director of Curriculum on the scheduling of workshops, assists with ordering of materials, and providing staff with evidence of completion from professional development opportunities
  • Communicates effectively with all members of the school, district and community
  • Assists with implementation of curriculum, instruction and assessments in regards to data
  • Attends workshops/conferences to learn about new practices and procedures for data systems
  • Assists in the review and selection of educational software
  • Assists in the maintenance of the technology websites and social media
  • Prepares documentation (e.g. user guides, recommendations, lesson plans, reports, instructions, reflections, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information
  • Provides basic level support of classroom devices when appropriate
  • Provides reports on instructional technology usage in the buildings to Administration
  • Respects and maintain confidentiality in the performance of all assigned duties
  • Performs all tasks as assigned by the Director of Technology and/or District Administrator
 Qualifications
  • High school diploma; two years of college preferred
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience with school SIS systems, preferably in a school setting; Proficiency with PowerSchool preferred
  • Experience with ISBE State Reporting and data uploads
  • Ability to effectively analyze data, present information and respond to questions
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to apply reasoning ability to practical situations, particularly in dealing with people
  • Ability to multitask, learn new tasks quickly and be a self-starter
  • Familiarity with G Suite and proficient with spreadsheets
  • Experience with social media platforms, such as but not limited, to Facebook, Twitter, and YouTubeExcellent attendance required
  • Exhibits professionalism in dealing with various constituencies 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in a courteous and professional manner
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate problem-solving skills, while maintaining courtesy, professionalism, and a customer service attitude
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality 
  • Strong computer skills
Terms of Employment
  • 220-day work calendar. Non-exempt. Salary commensurate with experience, education and/or a combination. The work hours for this position are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm (includes two 15 minute breaks and one 30 minute lunch).
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of support staff.
