Educational Diagnostician-Deaf Education
Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Educational Diagnostician for the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf. The appointee will report directly to the Executive Director-Special Education Services and the campus principals. The diagnostician will be responsible for the assessment of students referred to special education and their re-evaluations. The person will work closely with the special education support staff, campus administrators, the campus referral chairperson, and special education teachers.
--exhibits the ability to assess students with multiple disabilities including deaf/blind
--has knowledge of signed English systems and ASL
--demonstrates the ability to assess students to determine primary mode of communication
--have knowledge of special education law, policies and procedures, and diagnostics as it applies to assessing children with suspected disabilities
--possess excellent communication (verbal and written), public relation, and interpersonal skills
--display an understanding of appropriate evaluation instruments for AI students
-- exhibit a high degree of knowledge, understanding, and skill with respect to the appraisal process have an in-depth understanding of state rules, federal regulations, and policies concerning special education
Pay Range: Counselor/Diagnostician schedule; 187 day contract.
