Chappaqua CSD is looking for a dynamic & thoughtful social justice advocate to serve in the probationary position of Director of Equity, Inclusion & Wellness 

Position Purpose
Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of HR & Leadership Development, to implement, administer and maintain the school district's priority of nurturing an equitable and inclusive environment for all students and staff with an emphasis on promoting anti-racist practices, social justice, and social-emotional wellness. To also provide expertise, leadership, and collaboration in all areas of the school district and is integral to fulfilling our commitment to educating a diverse student body and creating a safe and welcoming environment where all students, families and staff members feel safe, valued and seen.

Essential Functions
  • Assists in the development and administration of the school district's focus on promoting anti-racist practices and beliefs, integrating social justice across the K-12 continuum and prioritizing emotional wellness practices that are consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Understands the importance of equity, inclusion, and wellness to the broader educational mission of Chappaqua CSD and is a committed advocate for equity, anti-racist and social justice programs and initiatives.
  • Assists district and building administrators with strategies, practices, and policy development that foster increased recruiting, hiring, and retention of a diverse staff.
  • Familiar with the RULER program and it's successful implementation on the K-12 continuum to help nurture emotionally literate learners with a deep understanding of their role in promoting equitable and inclusive spaces.
  • Serves as the district SEL Coordinator. 
  • Assists in strategic planning, curriculum review and development, and program evaluation to ensure inclusive learning experiences where no group of students is marginalized.
  • Understands and navigates the complex contexts, cultures, and politics within organizations that impact the implementation and management of effective equitable and inclusive change efforts.
  • Helps foster, create, and maintain culturally responsive and welcoming learning environments that center anti-racism in all schools.
  • Educates and trains stakeholders on issues regarding racism, access, equity, inclusivity, and issues of social justice.  Participates in, and facilitates, workshops, meetings, community events, etc. for collaborating, sharing, and/or presenting information to help promote equity, inclusivity and wellness.
  • Supervises, observes and evaluates staff. 

Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:
  • Required: NYS SDL/SBL Certification 
  • Experience promoting racial and social justice in schools.
  • Experience as a building leader preferred. 

This position includes a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and extensive opportunities for professional learning.

Salary Range: $185,000 - $195,000
