Status:    Full Time
Location:  Buffalo High School
Schedule:  5 days / week, 8 hours / day, 12 months / year
Hours: Monday - Friday 3:30pm – 12:00am or as assigned (hours & break hours may vary)
Beginning:   As Agreed Upon
Pay Schedule: According to Master Agreement

JOB SUMMARY:     Provide custodial support for the District in order to provide a clean, safe and healthy learning environment for students and staff.

% of Time                                                                      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Cleaning/Upkeep
  1. Clean, scrub, mop, dust, vacuum or sweeps floors, stairs, classrooms, kitchens, gyms, locker rooms, libraries, offices, commons, hallways, restrooms and other designated areas.
  2. Respond to emergency cleanup situations.
  3. Keep the custodial/maintenance rooms clean and well maintained.  Restock shelves with cleaning supplies.
  4. Maintain building security:  secure building, lock and unlock buildings, as necessary and perform other security tasks.
  5. Detailed cleaning of all areas of building in summer months as directed.
5% 2. Maintenance/Repair
  1. Perform routine preventative maintenance upkeep on equipment.
  2. Perform minor repairs and maintenance.
  3. Assist with major repairs and maintenance.
  4. Monitor boiler operation and reports any concerns.
10% 3. Set up/Take down   
  1. Set up, take down & clean up for events and other activities as directed.
4% 4. Grounds  
  1. Perform basic grounds upkeep including shoveling snow, picking up garbage and keeping entrances clean and free of obstruction, as needed.
1% 5. Meetings/Trainings  
  1. Attends meetings and trainings as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Education/Certification/Licensure Requirements:                         
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • No previous custodial or other related experience required.

Essential Skills Required to Perform the Work:
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instruction.
  • Ability to employ proper lifting techniques.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic communication skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Organizational and time management skills including prioritizing duties.

  • Ability to safely work with cleaning products.
  • Ability to follow established routine with ability to vary sequence of duties as needed.

  • Basic mechanical repair abilities.
  • Basic knowledge of applicable district policies/procedures.

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices and Software Required:
  • Operates hand tools, pallet jack, desk/table movers and ladders.
  • Operates cleaning equipment including carpet cleaners and floor machines.
  • Operates computer, hand held radio and district phone system.
Supervision of Other Employees:
  • This position does not provide supervision or work direction to any other District employees.

Physical Job Requirements:
  • Position involves lifting, walking, pulling, stooping, climbing, crawling and kneeling.
  • Position involves extended periods of time on feet.
  • Position involves frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts 75 – 100 pounds.
  • Position involves occasional climbing of ladders.
  • Position involves occasional repetitive motion & hand dexterity in performing tasks.
  • Position involves listening, speaking clearly and visual acuity.
