Job Description

Job Title: Security Personnel

Department: High School

Supervisor: High School Principal




Provides general supervision on students as assigned by the High School Principal.

Department Duties: 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Supervise students inside and outside of building in locations assigned.

Assists in maintaining discipline at all times.

Is knowledgeable of school rules and corrects any student in violation of these rules.

Reports immediately to an administrator of any students who do not comply with the correction.

Interact courteously with students and parents.

Communicate student problems with the Deans.

Cooperate with teachers and co-workers.

Supervise students in the Temporary Education Center (T.E.C.).

Cooperate with the school social worker on the Boys Town Model of student management.

Maintain confidentiality regarding student information. 

Supervisory Responsibilities 

Directly supervises students. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Reasoning Ability 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
