Basic Skills Paraprofessional

Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m  Part-time positions may be available.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent

  2. Experience working with school aged children

  3. High proficiency in the Spanish language, both oral and written

 

Duties:

  1. Support struggling learners in their academic growth of reading and/or math.

  2. Support classroom teachers with literacy assessments.

  3. Keep records of learning activities and monitor progress through data collection.

  4. Foster a collaborative relationship with classroom teachers to discuss students’ goals, strategies, and growth.

  5. Meet regularly with the Basic Skills Coordinator to discuss teaching strategies and student growth.

  6. Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Basic Skills Coordinator or Building Principal.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

General knowledge of the practices of a school; ability to keep records of work performed; knowledge of basic computer skills; ability to deal effectively with students and teachers; ability to build positive relationships with students; able to be flexible and quickly adjust to changes in student needs; ability to take initiation in completion of responsibilities; able to maintain a growth mindset, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, associates, administration and the general public.
