Teachers that are certified and who have been specially trained in the nuances of working effectively with students whom are not face-to-face. Edgenuity provides engaging online learning education solutions that propel students to success, empowers teachers to deliver enriched supplemental instruction and students will receive 1:1, group instruction and collaboration to meet academic goals. . The TVHS online instructor may be required to work from a school district campus and will use Blackboard to enrich online students experience by using it as a tool to support learning in Edgenuity. This includes, but is not limited to collaborations, discussions, journals, assignments, activities, etc.
Tolleson Virtual High School Online Instructor: SOCIAL STUDIES CERTIFIED TEACHERS
Availability on weekends: Time each weekend day dedicated to teaching online

Monday- Friday Availability for:
Office Hours
Online Progress Monitoring
Classroom collaboration, discussions and meetings
Parent phone calls, student phone calls and emails
Teaching online instruction in content area
Virtual Classroom Labs via MS Teams
  • All teachers must possess a valid AZ Teaching Certificate
  • 3-5 years teaching experience in Social Studies (preferred)
  • Teachers must be appropriately certified in content area
  • Current TUHSD certified teacher (preferred)
  • Be proficient and have experience working with the LMS Blackboard and Edgenuity
  • Be proficient and have experience in teaching in an online platform both in and out of the classroom
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assist virtual student and program monitoring
  2. Participate in curriculum development, changes, and innovations as needed
  3. Develop and maintain a monitoring system for student progress
  4. Serve as an active participant in TVHS online communication platform
  5. Attend workshops and required trainings
  6. Be willing to work flexible hours when needed
  7. Design and model effective online instruction
  8. Provide purpose and direction for students and parents
  9. Maintain accessibility and respond in a timely manner to stake holders
  10. Meet district deadlines
  11. Demonstrate collaborative problem solving
  12. Supervise test preparation and administration
  13. Perform other duties as assigned
  14. Devote weekly hours to live synchronous sessions (hours are determined by state/client needs)
  15. Successfully complete training within two weeks of hiring
  16. Participate in monthly data analysis meetings
  17. Provide students with rich and targeted feedback
  18. Complete additional trainings as required
  19. Learn curriculum of assigned course(s)
  20. Welcome students to course, communicate requirements, encourage participation, maintain synchronous office hours, monitor student pacing/progress through course
  21. Take ownership for student academic progress and show an active interest in student achievement
  22. Grade student work offering constructive feedback and maintain grade book
Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; and some fine finger dexterity.  The job is performed in a somewhat clean and healthy environment.  The working hours are somewhat flexible as the job requires some evening and Saturday work.

Evaluation:                      This position will be evaluated annually as outlined in Governing Board Policy
