Applying to Substitute Teach at Derby Public Schools
All applicants must be licensed by the Kansas State Department of Education, prior to applying. After you have submitted your application you will be contacted by email with instructions, if Derby Public Schools wishes to continue the application process of adding you to our pool of substitutes teachers. Orientation is required prior to substituting.

We are accepting applications from individuals who have the following licenses:
• Emergency Substitute License
• Standard Substitute License
• Initial Teaching License
• Professional Teaching License

Applying to be a Substitute Nurse at Derby Public Schools
A substitute nurse in our district must have a current/valid license as a "Registered Nurse" from the Kansas State Board of Nursing. All applications must be submitted through our online application system. Select "Substitute Certified" and under the "Statement" section of the application, please state you are applying to be a substitute nurse.

After you have submitted your application you will be contacted by email with instructions, if Derby Public Schools wishes to continue the application process of adding you to our pool of substitutes nurses. An orientation is required prior to substituting.

Both substitute teachers and substitute nurses must also provide a completed
Certification of Health for Substitutes. Certification of Health form will be accepted if dated
within the past year.

Rate of Pay for All Teacher and Nurse Substitutes
• Full Day $105    
• Half Day $52.50     
• Long Term Substitute Full Day $150*
