QUALIFICATIONS:               
 
1.   TEACHER CERTIFICATION OR SUBSTITUTE CERTIFICATION
2.   CPR AND BASIC FIRST AID CERTIFICATION
3.   MINIMUM OF TWENTY-ONE YEARS OF AGE
 
HOURS:             
 
10 MONTHS, PART-TIME      
 
REPORTS TO: PROGRAM COORDINATOR
 
SUPERVISES: CHILDREN IN GRADES PRE-K THROUGH 6TH
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  1. DAILY ATTENDANCE OF CHILDREN.  IF CHILD IS ABSENT, FOLLOWS UP WITH PARENTS/GUARDIANS/TEACHER TO CONFIRM OR ELICIT EXPLANATION.
     
  2. RECORD KEEPING OF:
    • ATTENDANCE
    • EXTRA DAYS AND LATE PICK UP OF CHILDREN
    • SIGN OUT
    • TIME SLIPS FOR HIGH SCHOOL AIDES AND CHILD CARE AIDES
    • ACCIDENTS WITH STAFF AND CHILDREN
    • BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS WITH CHILDREN AND STAFF
       
  3. PLAN DAILY ACTIVITIES.
     
  4. SUPERVISES CHILD CARE AIDES AND HIGH SCHOOL AIDES
     
  5. ESTABLISHES A SAFE, WARM, NUTURING ENVIRONMENT FOR THE CHILDREN TO COME BEFORE AND/OR AFTER SCHOOL
     
  6. ESTABLISHES AND IMPLEMENTS RULES FOR SAFETY AND BEHAVIOR.
     
  7. MAINTAINS OPEN COMMUNICATION WITH PARENTS/GUARDIANS ABOUT SITE ACTIVITIES, CHILD’S BEHAVIOR AND ANY EVENTS.
     
  8. ASSIST PROGRAM COORDINATOR WITH PLANNING FOR SCHOOL SHUT DOWNS.
     
  9. REPORTS CONCERNS/PROBLEMS TO PROGRAM COORDINATOR REGARDING:
    • CHILDREN
    • PARENTS/GUARDIANS
    • HIGH SCHOOL AIDES
    • CHILD CARE AIDES
    • GENERAL PROGRAM
10.     SHOPPING FOR SNACKS, JUICE AND SUPPLIES.

11.     KEEPS AREA CLEAN AND ORGANIZED.  “LEAVE IS CLEANER THAN WHEN WE ARRIVED.”
 
12.     MAINTAINS OPEN COMMUNICATION WITH OTHER SCHOOL PERSONNEL.
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: SALARY AND WORK YEAR TO BE DETERMINED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION.
 
EVALUATION: PERFORMANCE OF THIS JOB WILL BE EVALUATED ANNUALLY IN ACCORDANCE WITH PROVISIONS OF THE BOARD’S POLICY ON EVALUATION OF NONCERTIFIED STAFF.
