Field and Music Instructor for Northeastern High School Marching Band
Effectively demonstrate, offer instruction on, and evaluate proper marching technique of students participating in the marching band program. Assist in the teaching of the written field drill and in the teaching of proper parade formation and marching techniques and standards. Competently and effectively assist in delivering musical instruction, primarily to the wind section of the marching band, in both large and small group formats. Ability to effectively demonstrate skills on a wind instrument is a must. Must have musical performance and marching band experience from a reputable high school and/or
college program. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not mandatory. Ability to meet the physical demands of a marching unit including, but not limited to, marching, lifting, reaching, stretching,
conducting, and spending long periods of time on your feet. Position requires availability during scheduled rehearsals for the majority of the summer rehearsal season (June through late August). Summer rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 6:00-9:00pm with the addition of many Tuesday and Wednesday evenings in July and August. Band Camp includes a Sunday evening in July from 5:00-9:00pm and the ensuing Monday through Friday from 8:00am-6:00pm. Availability during the performance season (late August until November) at the majority of scheduled evening rehearsals is preferred. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:30pm. Additional rehearsals are held, but attendance at those is not required. Attendance at performances is not required, but is a plus.
