Position Title:           Instructional Assistant - Film, TV, & Graphics
Department:              Coconino High School  
Supervisor:                Principal, Director of College & Career Development and CHS Digital Media Teacher

Hourly Rate:   $13.07 - $13.17/hour (depending on experience)
Grade:  4
Schedule:  30 hours/week (Monday-Friday; 6.5 hours/day); 9 month position. Benefit eligible. Arizona State Retirement System.

Summary of Function:
Assist the Film, TV, & Graphics teacher with daily instructional activities and related tasks to ensure that all Film, TV, & Graphics students have a well-rounded education and are prepared for high-skill, high-wage occupations that will lead to self-sufficient, gratifying lives. This role carries the additional function of being a day-to-day production studio manager, requiring a level of proactive judgement and decision-making.

Typical Tasks:
  • Facilitate/maintain day-to-day studio operation and scheduling, creating and maintaining systems for this as needed
  • Communicate studio schedule to stakeholders in production
  • Ensure media produced by the studio is ADA complaint
  • Archive and catalog production media according to industry best practices
  • Maintain and update accurate studio inventory and equipment checkout processes
  • Assist with the preparation of instructional materials
  • Assist with demonstrations in the classrooms and labs
  • Work with students individually and in small groups
  • Provide additional support for special population students
  • Supervise students during production and production prep
  • Assist with supervising students on field trips
  • Assist with Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) related activities
  • Ensure lab readiness and maintenance
  • Assist with obtaining vendor quotes and procurement of equipment and supplies 
  • Assist with consistent enforcement of district, school, and program policies
  • Ensure student discipline in accordance with professional workplace expectations
  • Other duties as assigned

This position does not require NCLB (No Child Left Behind).

  • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and school administrators at the high school level
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 25 lbs
  • Ability to take FUSD driver training on request, requires clean 39-mo driving record
  • Working knowledge of industry skills, particularly in live action production/broadcasting
  • Solid organizational skills
  • The ability to prioritize tasks
  • A commitment to safety
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • High school diploma or higher
  • Previous experience working with high school students is desired
  • Experience with non-linear editing software strongly preferred
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere or DaVinci Resolve software preferred
  • Experience with Adobe PhotoShop and AfterEffects a plus
