General Description: The Director of Building/Grounds reports to the Business Manager and is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the buildings, grounds, central receiving and also performs any duties or assumes responsibilities as may be assigned.ations Manager reports to the Director of Building and Grounds and is responsible to assist in the overall operation and maintenance of the buildings, day to day supervision of maintenance and custodial employees, grounds, central receiving and also performs any duties or assumes responsibilities as may be assigned.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Employee Supervision
All custodial and maintenance employees will report to and be directly responsible to the Director of Building/Grounds. Specific supervisory responsibilities are as follows:
  • Participate in interviews and recommend for employment of custodial and maintenance staff
  • Assign and supervise the work of the custodial and maintenance employees through the SchoolDude computer program
  • Submit time cards and overtime records to payroll on a weekly basis
  • Resolve informal employee grievances
The maintenance area deals with the routine repair of the building and utility distribution systems, including normally recurring repairs and preventative maintenance specifically as follows:
  • Maintain the building and its systems (electrical, lighting, HVAC, plumbing, gas and water systems) in good repair and maximum operating efficiency
  • Provide maintenance support in the form of equipment installation and repair
  • Preventive maintenance of needed systems
  • Provide general maintenance to support the activities of the Tech Campus
  • Build new rooms/enclosures as required for expanded/new programs or offices, including the installation of new utilities (water, gas, electric, heat, etc.) as required to support new or expanded programs/offices
  • Modify existing or install new utilities, as required, to conform to changing requirements for student or staff safety items as directed by life safety regulations
  • Insure all utility modifications/installations conform to appropriate codes by having them inspected by qualified licensed personnel as appropriate.
The custodial staff will perform all janitorial and custodial services for the Tech Campus. The Director of Building/Grounds will oversee:
  • Cleaning of buildings, washing of windows, care and washing of floors, etc
  • Issuance of paper towels, paper, tissue, cleaners, and operation of custodial machinery
  • Snow removal at building entrances and access roadways
Roads and Grounds
  • Roads and grounds areas include the Tech Campus site, roadwork, sidewalks and parking areas.
  • Maintain all areas of the site that contain trees, grass, shrubs, flowers, nursery stock, etc, including edging, seeding, planting, and cutting grass.
  • Maintain roads, walks, and parking lots
  • Arrange trash and refuse disposal
  • Snow and ice removal
Central Receiving
  • Receive and check all incoming equipment and supplies and deliver items to respective programs or offices
  • Assist Business Manager in developing the annual operating budget for maintenance and custodial service areas
  • Prepare purchase orders for all maintenance items and custodial supplies

Term: Full-Time

Salary: Per the Union contract, depending on experience
