Position: Fine Arts Teacher for the 2020-21 school year
Reports To: School Principal (or designee)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the vision and mission of CICS Ralph Ellison. The Fine Arts Teacher will exhibit professional judgment and demonstrate behaviors that are professional, ethical and responsible.
Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts/appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about the arts.
Plan and use appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials and technology that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned.
Familiarity with computers and an interest in technology integration in the fine arts curriculum is essential.
Implement and maintain a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social and emotional development of students.
Coordinate fine arts displays/programs/showcases for school and special events
Participate in grade level and weekly collaboration meetings.
Use PSAT/SAT and other assessment data to support instruction with constant analysis and goal setting with students.
Complete all mandated communication and reports through PowerSchool and meet all deadlines.
Attend various school events throughout the school year to be a visible face to families and students.
Complete other tasks/duties as required.
Qualifications and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university (required)
Valid/registered Illinois teaching license with appropriate endorsements (required)
At least 2 years of teaching experience in an urban high school setting (preferred)
Must possess a broad educational foundation in art and desire to instruct all levels up to advanced.
Must be willing to work as a contributing member of course-alike and department teams to improve instructional practices and curriculum that benefit student learning.
