Elementary Teachers for Summer Targeted Services Program (Summer Academy)

Program Objectives

  • Engage learners through creativity and scientific inquiry using the provided framework and curriculum resources (student-driven, standards-based).

  • Support the development of learning skills (i.e. determining and completing a task).

  • Provide a personalized academic plan for foundational skills development via IXL.

Program Structure

Students will participate in a daily, synchronous workshop with a teacher. Additional instructional resources and assignments will be posted for students to access (Google Site or Google Classroom). Students will participate in both whole class and small group activities as well as perform individual tasks. 

Each class features a combination of synchronous instruction and independent learning. Depending on the needs of students, the instruction may consist of some combination of the following: live or recorded instructor videos; audio, video, written texts, or other media; links to websites for research; other as appropriate. 

Program Schedule

Two, 2 week sessions (Monday-Friday):

  • Session 1 (The Wonder of Water): July 6-July 17

  • Class periods: AM (9-11) or PM (12-2)

  • Session 2 (Plants & Animal SuperPowers): July 20-July 31

    • Class periods: AM (9-11) or PM (12-2)
