The Shelton Public School system has a vacancy for Director of Technology (available 7/1/2020).

General Statement of Responsibilities:   

The Director of Technology is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, and supervision of the technology program district wide.  Responsibilities include infrastructure, design, planning and management, the piloting and implementation of system initiatives and subsequent releases, related hardware and software considerations, telecommunications and networking, data management (i.e. State Reporting, data aggregation and exporting) and network and data security issues.  Additional responsibilities assigned as they relate to all Technology within the district including budgeting and finance.

Reports to:                     Assistant Superintendent

Terms of Employment:    Work year per contract

Salary:                            As negotiated

Evaluation:                     Annually by the Assistant Superintendent of Schools

Supervises:                    Technology Center Staff, Technology Center Interns, and other staff as designated by the Assistant Superintendent

Required Education, Experience, and Training:

  • Minimum BS degree, preferable in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Business, master's degree preferred
  • Minimum five years of increasing responsibility and experience in the Information Technology field
  • Prior Technical Management Experience preferred
  • Experience in planning, operating, and maintaining complex network systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial resources
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership as well as the ability to direct and work with staff
  • Knowledge of school management systems and data management preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse school community; superior oral and written communication skills.  Strong communication skills to communicate with all levels of an organization
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of all technologies including remote management and remote access
  • Comprehension and awareness of the latest technology offerings and the ability to maximize the impact of technology within the organization
