Description

Description:  The Social Emotional Learning Foundations (SELF) program is a full day program for kindergarten through eighth grades located in age appropriate general education buildings within the Lincoln-Way Area Special Education Cooperative. This program is designed to meet the needs of students who exhibit emotional and behavioral characteristics that interfere significantly with their ability to progress in the general education classroom/curriculum.  Students placed in the SELF program are supported by intensive social work, psychological, speech and language services, occupational therapy and paraprofessional support as needed.

Qualifications:  Illinois Type 10 or 73 Certificate in Speech/Language Pathology.  Experience working as a Speech/Language Clinician preferred.

Job Summary:  Work cooperatively with the classroom teacher and other transdisciplinary team members to incorporate student speech and language goals into the daily routine/curriculum, evaluate and monitor the communication skills of students and document student progress, provide individual or group instruction in speech and language skills that will meet the communication needs of students when these cannot be met through the classroom routine/curriculum, complete speech and language testing for initial and three-year reevaluations, prepare, plan, and participate with team for all IEP meetings.

Working Conditions: 181-day contract position, 7 hours 15 minutes daily
