Dwight-Bellizzi Dual Language Academy is a Two-Way, 50-50 program model.  As a two-way model, we teach students from two language groups.  It is a 50-50 model in that 50% of the curriculum is taught in English, and 50% is taught in Spanish for all students enrolled in the program.  Our program is also a two-teacher model, where two teachers will partner to teach content; one teacher provides all instruction in Spanish, and the other teacher provides all instruction in English. 
Our purpose is to educate the whole student academically, socially, and emotionally to develop competent bilingual and biliterate and culturally responsible global citizens.  We are committed to creating an equitable and respectful environment in order to foster compassion amongst a diverse community to become future leaders.

Educate the Whole Child:  To ensure academic excellence that will equip students to find success in school and beyond, we must set the bar high, and support students through challenges; support students’ social, emotional, cultural, and linguistic needs; and, implement strategies that support real life situations and difficulties.
Certified Positions

  • Kindergarten Teachers (2.0 FTE)
  • Bilingual Kindergarten Teachers (2.0 FTE)
 *All positions are subject to available funding. 
All teachers are expected to make a three (3) year commitment to Dwight-Bellizzi Dual Language Academy.
Certification Requirements
To be considered for the bilingual Kindergarten teaching positions, candidates must hold one of the following Connecticut teacher certifications:  902 or 009 and one of the grade appropriate teaching certifications (001, 002, 003, 008, 013, 112, 113).  To be considered for the other Kindergarten teaching positions, candidates must hold one of the following Connecticut teacher certifications:  001, 002, 003, 008, 013, 112, or 113. 
Competitive salary is commensurate with experience and education level.
