POSITION TITLE:  Application Data Analyst
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION:  Technology Services/Technology Service Center
STATUS:   Classified - Exempt, Full Time
POSITION SUMMARY:  The Application Data Analyst position will oversee the operation of the Student Information System. This position is responsible for all user security, reporting, and general maintenance of the software.  Perform security and operational analysis, custom report creation and generation, oversee and write applications for import and export functions between databases.
This position is part of the Information Systems department  and reports to Assistant Director of Information Systems. 
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and continued implementation of district’s SIS application software – currently Synergy
  • Ensure data integrity/accuracy for all student state reporting
  • Identify areas to increase efficiency and automation of processes
  • Develop and support reporting processes
  • Monitor and audit data quality
  • Install enhancement and upgrades to all SIS application servers
  • Create and maintain custom reports for student data reporting.
  • Ability to write complex, efficient queries against Microsoft SQL Server
  • Ability to develop strategies, documentation, project plans, test plans, prioritize tasks and multi-task
  • Perform other duties, as assigned by the Assistant Director of Information Systems, for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective functioning of district applications and software
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • 3-5 Years’ experience working in the IT industry preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer related field or relevant education/experience
  • Proven experience in translating and refining business requirements into enterprise solutions
  • Must be able to work outside a normal 8-hour workday when required
  • Web application development a plus but not required
  • Ability to work in collaboration with many users of varying technology skills as well as work independently when necessary
  • Good listening skills and understanding of school operations and business functions

  • Previous experience with any of the districts business application software a plus

  • Highly collaborative team player
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the performance of light work.  Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  The position is in a normal office setting with exposure to computers, with interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule.  The work is sedentary, although a frequent amount of reaching, walking, and standing is necessary, an occasional amount of lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, and some stooping, kneeling and/or crouching as well as a significant amount of fine finger dexterity is required in carrying out the essential duties of this position.  The position is performed in generally hazard free environment and a clean atmosphere
